Terry began his career playing lead guitar for Up With People during his high school
years in the late sixties. He played in various jazz-rock groups while attending Arizona
State University and spent years on the road playing lead guitar for a variety of artists
including The Platters, The Drifters, Donnie Brooks , The Ohio Express, the 1910
Fruitgum Co., Lip Service, and others. The 80s and 90s found him back in his hometown,
recording, producing, and playing country-rock with Buddy Alan Owens, Johnny Western,
The Country Green Band, and the infamous City Limits Band. Terry lists Mike Boomfield,
BB King, Eric Clapton, James Burton, Don Rich, Dickey Betts, Carlos Santana, Mike
Condello, and Peter Green as his early guitar influences.

Born and reared in landlocked Phoenix, Cherndog's first musical memory is hearing the
Venture's "Out of Limits" on his older brother's new lowboy stereo console, when audio
equipment doubled as furniture. Having an older brother and sister, he was also fed a
steady dose of the Beatles, Cream, Thackeray Rocke and the dreaded terrorist Cat
Stevens, tempered with his parental units' faves Frankie Yankovic and bagpipe tunes.
Having mastered air guitar by age nine, he has since upgraded to Dipinto and Fender
guitars and amps. He cites a live album by second-wave surf band Jon and the Nightriders
and a Los Straitjackets concert for a boost to his surf guitar education. Andy Summers and
Pat Metheny are his main influences. To keep his "edge," Cherndog watches old
videotapes of the Wallace and Ladmo Show, a Phoenix TV institution which also molded
the minds of local celebrities Alice Cooper, the Tubes and Steven Spielberg. Just look
where it got THEM. (photo by Rick D'Elia)

Born in northern Indiana, Josh
moved out to the Valley in 2005 to
pursue musical endeavors and a
career in journalism. His drumming
background is varied, having played
drums for rock, metal, jazz, punk,
and orchestral groups and a strong
influence by world music is
apparent in his playing. When not
drumming for the 'Coolers, Josh
can be found leading The
Ragamuffin Stampede, his
indie-folk group, or going on dates
with his hot wife.
Chuck Booth played
drums for The 'Coolers at
The Rhythm Room and
other shows. He has
played throught the US as
a percussionist,
drummer, and teacher for
the National Guard Band,
jazz groups, and rock and
roll bands.
Michael Kravitz played drums on The Swamp
Coolers' "The Circle Of Life" and "Ho Ho Ha Ha
He He Ha Ha." Michael learned from the guy that
played drums on most of the original surf hits, his
uncle, Hal Blaine!
Lyndsay Mallory,
Dawn Brown, & Sarah
King, from the popular
Steelin' The Night
Away steel drum band,
played steel drums on
The Swamp Coolers'
cover of
"The Circle Of Life".
Modern jazz singers Nonie
Bernard and Mark
Schufletowski usually work
with classically trained
musicians. They reportedly
found working with The
Swamp Coolers "fun, but
decadent." Nonie and Mark
tracked the complex backing
vocals for the bridge on
"Journey To The Stars" and
"The Circle Of Life."
Japanese pop star Miz recorded the cool vocal part, on "Ms. Moto", in Sweden during sessions for her new CD.

Dave DeStefano
played bass for The

(07-08).
...reliable sources have indicated that former super sleuth, lawyer, college professor and
surf bum Mike Kunes has surfaced in the desert as part of The Swamp Coolers. Having
been a founding member of the Deadly Nightshades, he became part of the Village Ratz,
the Ball Brothers, the Erector Set, Lip Service, City Kids, Bing of America, the Charlie
Foege experience, Kelly's Heroes and Nighthawks at the Diner, as well as touring with
such notables as the 1910 Fruitgum Company, Ohio Express and Iron Butterfly. He has
performed on countless recordings and still plays the bass because "I only have to count
to four."
Jeff Paisley played
guitar and bass
with The Swamp
Coolers for a few
months in '08 and
'09; and he played
drums on Califaction.
Jeff even wrote an
excellent book to
honor his father,
Fifty Five Fathers .

Cyd, a.k.a. Sweet Beat, was born with a golden rattle in her hand and a song in her heart.
She was tapping out tunes before she could walk. By the 5th grade she was officially
inducted into the world of percussion in beginning band and kept the beat through high
school, performing in concert band, jazz/stage band, marching band and solo ensemble
competitions. She won numerous local, State and National solo awards for her
percussive talent. After high school Sweet Beat enrolled at Arizona State University with the
aspiration of majoring in percussion performance …but she decided to march to a
different drummer, Rock and Roll. Cyd has played drums for over thirty years and has
performed and recorded with a variety of artists including Limerence, One Track Mind,
Jamie Anderson, Martie van der Voort, Mike Haasis, and Blooster. Her sound is crisp,
clean and influenced by such notable drummers as Fritz Lewak, Max Weinberg and Kenny
Aranoff. You can tell by the constant smile on her face that she loves playing live and
recording because for her, playing drums is the rhythm of life.
She also plays with The Painkillers and Carol Pacey
Carol Pacey sang harmony on Hollywood Christmas Party and Modern Love. She is a popular singer/songwriter in Tempe. www.Carol Pacey.com

Growing up in California and Arizona, Tom’s interests in music were sparked by
exposure to country & western, blues, rock, jazz, classical and everything in-between.
He managed and played in bands throughout high school and beyond and is still
having fun playing live and recording. He has an extensive vinyl record collection and
considers The Who and The Beach Boys as huge influences on his love for live
performance and superior recording. Tom also plays bass guitar, keys, and sings
with The Painkillers .
